AN AMBITIOUS
PROJECT
All united under the Crosscall Sailing Team banner
Created in 2019 under the joint impetus ofAurélien Ducroz, double Freeride Skiing World Champion and Class40 World Champion, and Cyril Vidal, President and Founder of Crosscall, a French brand of more sustainable smartphones and expert in critical communication solutions, the Crosscall Sailing Team enjoyed an initial three-season campaign, concluding in 2022 with participation in the legendary Route du Rhum.
Eager to continue their shared ocean-racing adventure, they have decided to strengthen their partnership and add new co-partners until 2025. The aim: to continue optimizing the performance of the Crosscall Class40 prototype, and to share new human and sporting adventures in the category's greatest ocean races.

A PROTOTYPE COMBINING INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Crosscall Class40 has been designed to be both reliable and high-performance, thanks to innovative lines offering new navigation capabilities, on-board electronics hitherto reserved for higher category boats, and design and material choices made with sustainability in mind.
" We took advantage of the winter of 2023 to optimize the performance of the Crosscall Class40 for the Transat Jacques Vabre. To do this, we have, among other things, evolved her lines to enable her to benefit from the latest innovations in terms of design and glide on the water. "

Aurélien Ducroz's dream
Aurélien wanted to surround himself with a passionate team to design a high-performance boat to cross the Atlantic and take part in the greatest ocean races. To achieve this, the Crosscall Sailing Team is working hand in hand with Marc Lombard Design, a firm with excellent expertise in the design of high-performance, reliable Class40 boats.
WHAT'S NEW IN CLASS40 CROSSCALL FOR 2023
A new bow
The lower part of the hull has been completely cut away to accommodate a new bow. Less voluminous, it improves the boat's behavior and speed in downwind conditions on rough seas. The brion, the lowest point of the hull, has also been raised, enabling Crosscall to retain its spatulate, ski-like look, ready to ride the winds of the Transat Jacques Vabre!
A reinforced mast
Following the dismasting during the Route du Rhum, a new mast with a second set of spreaders is integrated into the boat to improve reliability.
Makeover
Crosscall's design teams have created a new look that plays on waves, blending technological and marine symbolism. The new bow stands out from the hull like a skier's spatula on the snow.
CROSSCALL
technology at the heart of performance
On-board technology, and more specifically Crosscall waterproof smartphones and tablets, continues to be at the heart of the Crosscall Sailing Team's quest for performance. These terminals enable Aurélien to access all navigation data wherever he is on the boat, and with great reading comfort. Ideal conditions for making the right decisions at the right time.
It's also a real open-air laboratory for the French manufacturer, who uses Aurélien's feedback and on-board observations to develop its products so that all users can benefit from them in turn.
Navigation system
The CORE-T5 tablet is used as a remote screen on board the boat: Aurélien can consult all the information provided by the onboard instruments from the cockpit, in real time. In this way, he avoids unnecessary travel and optimizes his sailing time.
Image capture
Aurélien Ducroz also uses smartphones to film, edit and share his adventures and create immersive, original content blending sport and emotion, as he did during the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 and the Route du Rhum 2022.
STELLAR-X5
Even on the high seas, Aurélien creates immersive content and shares his adventures in high resolution thanks to the waterproof camera on STELLAR-X5.
X-VIBES
Once the X-VIBES bone conduction headset is on, Aurélien communicates with his ears free to hear the sounds of the boat.
CORE-T5
Aurélien uses the large screen of the CORE-T5 tablet to read the information provided by the on-board instruments.

AURÉLIEN DUCROZ,
OCEAN RIDER
Aurélien Ducroz, the son of a mountain guide and a ski instructor, started out as a competitive alpine skier before turning to ski jumping. Injured before the 2002 Olympic Games, he discovered freeriding as a film double and decided to devote himself to this discipline.
A STYLE THAT MARKED A GENERATION
Aurélien Ducroz made a remarkable debut as a professional freerider with a third-place World Cup finish in 2004, followed by a runner-up World Championship title the following year. Thanks to his experience in ski jumping, he has innovated with a new style of line that is faster, more fluid and more extreme.
In 2009 and 2011, he became Freeride World Champion at the Freeride World Tour's flagship event, the Verbier Xtreme.
DISCOVERY
OCEAN RACING
In 2007, Aurélien agreed to become the godfather of sailor Adrien Hardy's boat. Fascinated by ocean racing, he decided to sail with him. This experience enabled him to discover new sensations and to make an important decision: to make a living from his two passions, the sea and the mountains.
"Sailing was a real discovery for me, I started from scratch but it was a great feeling. It hasn't been easy, but adversity allows you to evolve
and move forward. You always have to keep in mind the notion of adaptability in this sport."

WORLD CHAMPION TITLE
FOR CROSSCALL SAILING TEAM
Two-time Freeride World Champion Aurélien Ducroz won the Class40 World Championship in June 2022 with his crew, including the talented Vincent Riou and experienced sailors. A cleverly devised race sheet was crucial to their victory in a context of close contact racing.
Aurélien chooses Vincent riou as co-skipper
The winner of the 2005 Vendée Globe, Vincent Riou, will be alongside Aurélien Ducroz for this season of double-handed racing. This seasoned skipper, for whom sailing holds no secrets, is an ideal companion to support Aurélien in this new phase of his Crosscall Sailing Team adventure.
Already reunited and victorious at the last Mondial Class40 in La Rochelle, they form an ambitious duo who will take advantage of three great races: the Normandy Channel Race, Les Sables-les Açores and the 40 Malouine to pool their skills before the major objective of the Transat Jacques Vabre.

"Aurélien and I have very different routes, but what I like is that we speak the same language. Crosscall is a very versatile and fast boat in all conditions. We're both going to bring our skills, our desire and our motivation to the table. "
VINCENT RIOU,
Co-skipper of the Crosscall Sailing Team
VINCENT RIOU,
Co-skipper of the Crosscall Sailing Team
Winner of the Vendée Globe in 2005 and runner-up in the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2017, Vincent Riou has been working alongside Aurélien since the boat's preparation, with the aim of achieving the best possible performance for the Transat Jacques Vabre 2023.
The two skippers share the same values and are looking to find a common language for sailing together. This year, Vincent Riou is concentrating on this project and looking forward to spending some quality time at sea with the line-up of skippers.
ALONE WE GO FASTER,
TOGETHER WE GO FURTHER
"Building a boat and optimizing it over several years is a large-scale project. Strong bonds are forged between a skipper and his partners. The human dimension is extremely important, even essential. In a competition, you're alone in the ocean, but behind you there's unfailing support. It pushes you to go further, for the sake of the team .
