Here we are, south of the Cape Verde Islands, after 2 good days of hard downwind sailing! We were going fast, banging along, and occasionally running off the track... We saw the speedo speed up several times above 28 knots, and make a buffet stop behind. Downwind sails don't like that too much.
We've been missing the big spinnaker since the first night, so we still had a heavy head spinnaker and a heavy hull spinnaker, both of which have gone, but they can be repaired and sent back in turn! The indoor repair workshop is no easy task when you're being sent to the other end of the boat with the cutter, scissors and acetone... in humidity and temperatures close to the Hammam!
Once the first repair is up in the air, it's the other one's turn, and once it's fixed, it's the other one that breaks again... so we fix it again! We're active!
In order to preserve our repairs a little this time, we're sailing under gennaker while we can: off to the Doldrums!
The Doldrums look rather interesting for us according to today's forecasts (but this zone is a bit of a world of weather uncertainty, as we can see for Charal...): it would largely slow down our rivals, well anchored in front for the moment, and leave us a bit alone... It borders on poetry, but we have the right to believe!
