One year after its launch, the Class40 Crosscall won the World Championship in its category this weekend in La Rochelle. A title that validates the full potential of this prototype combining innovation and durability, as well as that of its skipper with an atypical profile. After his two freeride ski world titles, Aurélien Ducroz adds a new world title to his record, demonstrating once again his thirst for victory and his ability to lead ambitious projects.
Aurélien Ducroz: "I have experienced two World Championship titles in skiing, this is the first in sailing, it’s extraordinary! We sailed well during the first three days of the championship with three great races always in the leading group. It was largely decided by maneuvers, and we were quite good at that. Of course, we are frustrated not to have done more, but now we can only be happy with the result! Racing as a crew reminded me of the Tour de France à la Voile that I did in Diam24 three years in a row… You regain reflexes even though it’s a bit physical on these boats, but it was very enjoyable. The collaboration with Vincent Riou was simply extraordinary. Sailing with someone who has so much experience is a real privilege and a true pleasure. Also, I thank him enormously as well as everyone else who was on board, David Sineau, Eric Levet, Thomas Audren, not forgetting my boat captain Jonathan Chodkiewiez with whom I am very happy to have shared this moment. I am super proud to bring this World Championship title to this great project that we have been building since last year with my partners from the Crosscall Sailing Team, Crosscall at the forefront, who was the first to trust me in the project of building our prototype."
