KEEP THE CHARGE LEVEL BETWEEN 20% AND 80%
A good habit to pick up is to keep the phone continually within a charge range of between 20% and 80%, in order to preserve its battery. Leaving your smartphone charging beyond 100% or letting it run right out of charge can lead to the battery overheating.
So, the first thing you'll want to do is to make sure that your battery level percentage is displayed. To do this, go into Settings > Battery > Enable "Battery percentage".
Go for occasional charges instead of just leaving your smartphone to charge all night, this won't only look after your battery, but it'll also look after your electricity bill!
However, experts do recommend doing a full recharge cycle once a month, which means going from 0% to 100% charge, in order to recalibrate your battery.
USE AUTOMATIC BRIGHTNESS MANAGEMENT
Even if it's more comfortable to have a super bright screen, it's not always necessary to push the brightness up to maximum.
With the automatic brightness setting, your screen will adapt to the ambient lighting to ensure you get an optimal display.
Optimising the screen brightness means you can reduce energy consumption and, in turn, protect the battery.
To enable this mode, go into Settings > Screen > and Enable "Adaptive brightness" mode.
ENABLE THE BATTERY SAVER
Battery saver mode, as its name suggests, is another excellent way of saving and thus preserving your battery.
You can enable it directly via your shortcut menu (by swiping down) or in: Settings > Battery >Battery saver.
Once enabled, this mode enables the dark theme (consumes less energy) and disables or limits background activities, some visual effects and other features, such as "OK Google".
For optimised management, you can also automatically enable it when your charge level reaches 20%. To do this: Go into Settings > Battery > Battery saver > Define a programme > Determine at what battery percentage you want this mode to be enabled.
Background apps may also drain your battery, even when you're not using them. With the "Battery Manager" enabled, your smartphone will send you notifications to close the apps which are using the most energy.
CLOSE BACKGROUND TASK APPS
As we mentioned earlier, even if you're not using an app, if it stays open in the background, it'll consume battery charge. Once you've finished using an app, remember to close it.
Doing this is really simple:
- If you're in gesture navigation mode: Swipe upwards and close the apps of your choice by sliding them upwards or by directly clicking on "Close all"
- If your in three-button navigation mode : Click on the square in the bottom-right of your screen and close the apps of your choice by either swiping them upwards or clicking directly on "Close all".
SWITCH OFF YOUR SMARTPHONE AT NIGHT OR ENABLE AIRPLANE MODE
Even when you're not using your smartphone, it's still working away (looking for signal, receiving notifications, SMS, emails, etc.).Pick up a good habit by switching your smartphone off at night or by enabling airplane mode. This mode will cut off all network connections and therefore any activity which isn't connected with the use of your smartphone.
