LOST IN THE SWELL
Ronan, Ewen and Aurélien, 3 Bretons with a passion for surfing, criss-cross the world's surf spots, conquering unexplored waves. Through their web series "Lost in the Swell", these adventurous youtubers tell us about their quest for the perfect spot. After a Surf & Fat bike trip along the coast of Gabon, they continue their adventures in Morocco on the back of a donkey, ACTION in hand. Let's get ready for a "Marocâne" season.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FOURTH "LOST IN THE SWELL" SEASON IN MOROCCO
"We walked along the Moroccan coast for a month, accompanied by donkeys. The aim was to surf unexplored waves in places that are often difficult to access. That's why the donkeys were so helpful in transporting our boards and equipment. The logistics sometimes proved more complicated than expected, but we're now ready for our next three-month trip! At an average of 4kg of barley per donkey, we could only leave for 5 days on our own..."
HOW DID YOU USE YOUR ACTION ON THIS TRIP?
"The phones helped us find our bearings and detect potentially interesting spots. The quest for waves doesn't happen overnight, and in Morocco there are a lot of cliffs! As good adventurous surfers, we cross-checked every possible base map, putting GPS points on Google Earth, Google Maps and the SAS Planet application, one of the only ones that can pick up Russian and Chinese satellites in offline mode. This saved us an enormous amount of time in deciding which direction to take.
Surfing is like sailing. We cross-checked the weather every day with the Windy and Windguru apps. As a result, we could determine where to go and when, or on the contrary, remain patient and wait for the next swell. It helped us decide on the right strategy to adopt, and that's revolutionizing the surfer's life!
We took a lot of pictures with the phones, but our ACTION also served as a control screen to fly our drone, a DJI Phantom."

WHY CHOOSE CROSSCALL PHONES?
"We were in camping mode for a month, so the phones had to withstand any conditions. We were often soaked or full of sand and salt. Previously, we would have thought twice before taking out our phone, but now we didn't really care.
As far as batteries were concerned, we easily lasted the day. We had solar panels to recharge our equipment, and we were careful to use our phones sparingly. In Morocco, you don't really need to have your phone on at night!"
