MEETING ARCTIC COMMUNITIES WITH UNU MONDO

The Unu Mondo expedition featured on TF1's 1pm news. We were delighted to accompany this expedition, whose aim was to meet Arctic populations and demonstrate the impact of climate change.

AN EXPEDITION WITH A DUAL PURPOSE

 

Last June, the Unu Mondo team - captain Tobias Carter and expedition manager Sophie Simomin - sailed from France to Greenland aboard their yacht Northabout. The objectives of this 95-day expedition were to gather testimonies from Arctic populations whose daily lives have been considerably affected by climate change, and to support scientific research by welcoming ecologists and deploying weather stations.

 

 

EDUCATION FOR THE VERY YOUNG

 

After a 4-month expedition, taking around a hundred samples, setting up weather stations and drifting buoys, and collecting numerous testimonies, the crew could only observe the extent of the ice melt and the changes experienced on a daily basis by the Greenlandic population. They now want to use this experience to raise awareness of climate change among young people, and show them that everyone can take action in their own way.

 

 

CROSSCALL TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT THEM

 

Equipped with their TREKKER-X4 smartphones and CORE-T4 tablet, the Unu Mondo team crossed the Atlantic to meet the inhabitants of Greenland. Navigation, communication, reporting, photos and videos - the CROSSCALL tools enabled the crew to live and share their adventure without fear of external conditions.
