The IP standard: protection against dust and water
The level of resistance of a smartphone to waterand dust is measured by an international standard: the IP (Ingress Protection) rating defined bythe International Electrotechnical Commission. This measurement will help you make your choice based on thelevel of resistance you are looking for.
The IP standard consists of two digits: the first indicatesthe level of protection against dust(from 0 to 6) and the second specifiesthe level of water resistance(from 0 to 9). Thus, the corresponding index tells you the degree of protection of the equipment against the penetration of foreign solid objects and water with harmful effects.
The IK standard: impact protection
The IK (International Mechanical Protection) standard is defined by the French standard NF EN 62262. It measures the level of impact resistanceofphones. The device is then tested to withstand external mechanical impacts.
This index is presented in the form of numbers (from 0 to 10) that indicate the level of protection of the equipment's casing against impact.

The MIL-STD-810H military standard: protection in extreme conditions
The MIL-STD-810H military standard, created by the US Army, measures the ruggedness and durability of rugged phones through several laboratory tests that recreate the extreme, hostile, and dangerous conditions that smartphones may encounter in everyday use:
