Unleashed Magazine has chosen to use TREKKER-X4 to film live wakeboard events at FISE 2019. Philippe Sirech, founder and CEO of Unleashed Magazine, takes a look at the partnership and the equipment used at the event.

Although Unleashed Magazine has been present at FISE since its very beginnings, this is the first year that the magazine has set up such a system to broadcast the various FISE wakeboarding events to wake enthusiasts.

Philippe Sirech, founder and CEO of Unleashed Magazine, answered a few questions about this new feature.

WHY CHOOSE CROSSCALL TREKKER-X4 SMARTPHONES TO FILM YOUR LIVES?

The idea was to be able to broadcast the FISE wakeboard events using a portable device. We therefore chose to film the events using smartphones. To do this, we needed phones that could withstand the heat and rain. For us, the TREKKER-X4 were the perfect candidates. Robust, with long battery life and, above all, heat-resistant. This was immediately apparent when compared with other smartphone brands, which displayed a warning message after just a few minutes in the sun.

HOW WAS THE SYSTEM SET UP?

We set up three TREKKER-X4 on tripods, each with a different angle of view, so that we could follow the athletes' entire route. The phones were then connected by WIFI to a computer equipped with a Livestream system. From the control room, it was easy to switch from one camera to another and insert commercials during downtime.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF OUR TREKKER-X4 ?

In addition to their resistance to water and temperature changes, TREKKER-X4 offer excellent sound pick-up, allowing spectators to be 100% immersed in the FISE atmosphere. Their long autonomy is also a real plus. We were able to film each event without any problem and without needing to recharge our phones (around 1h30 of live coverage each time).
