Putting the user and his needs at the center of our product design enables us to offer unique solutions. Thinking differently has enabled Crosscall to constantly innovate, while remaining rooted in "designed to last".  


With a design and prototyping office, the X-Lab, based in Aix-en-Provence, France, our terminals are designed to be close to their intended use. As a forerunner in the defense/security market, designing ever more durable, reliable and resistant products is a matter of course for us.

IP standard: protection against dust and water

A smartphone's level of resistance to water and dust is measured by an international standard: the IP(Protection Index) standard defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission. This measurement will enable you to make your choice according to the level of resistance you're looking for.

The IP standard is made up of two numbers: the first indicating the level of protection against dust (from 0 to 6) and the second specifying the level of resistance to water (from 0 to 9). The corresponding index indicates the degree of protection against the penetration of solid foreign bodies and water with harmful effects.

The IK standard: protection against shocks

IK(International Mechanical Protection) is defined by French standard NF EN 62262. It measures the level of shock resistance of telephones. The device is then tested to resist external mechanical impacts.

This index takes the form of numbers (from 0 to 10) indicating the level of protection of the equipment enclosure against shocks.

MIL-STD-810H military standard: protection in extreme conditions

The MIL-STD-810H military standard, created by the US Army, measures the toughness and resistance of the ruggedized phone via several laboratory tests recreating extreme, hostile and dangerous conditions that the smartphone may face in everyday use:

The design of rugged phones

The choice of materials used in the design of ruggedized smartphones is essential to guarantee the durability of the device. Our engineers make it a point of honor to develop manufacturing techniques and opt for components that enable devices to withstand any situation (shocks, scratches...):
