See everythingRugged mountain phone: the indispensable ally of outdoor adventurers
Why choose a rugged mountain phone? The mountains are a fascinating and demanding adventure terrain. Between sudden weather changes, rugged terrain and isolation, every high-altitude excursion involves risks. A rugged mountain phone is not just an accessory, but a real safety tool. Whether you're a casual hiker or a seasoned explorer, nature doesn't do you any favors. All it takes is one false step, capricious weather or a flat battery to turn a beautiful day into a real challenge. The right equipment makes all the difference, and among the essentials is a reliable smartphone tout-terrain . Crosscall, the French brand of outdoor smartphones, offers two models for adventurers: STELLAR-X5, ideal for hiking and photography, and STELLAR-M6, designed for explorers looking for ruggedness.

Gendarmerie Nationale: smartphones increasingly strategic in protecting territory and populations
In 2023 alone, the Gendarmerie Nationale received almost 11 million calls via 17, 2.2 million of which resulted in interventions. As the new STORM and soon RRF information systems are deployed, Major General Marc BOGET looks back at the digital challenges facing this institution, a pillar of the strategy for protecting the territory and its populations. Behind the scenes, Crosscall has been equipping all French gendarmes since 2021 as part of the NEO 2 program. A total of 100,000 smartphones and 20,000 tablets from the French brand will be deployed. Interview with Major General Marc BOGET Could you tell us about your roles and missions within the French National Gendarmerie? I'm the Director of Digital and Technological Strategy for the Gendarmerie Nationale, reporting directly to its Director General, General Hubert Bonneau. Today, the Gendarmerie's digital equipment includes some 300 central information systems, 4,000 servers, 80,000 computers and 100,000 cell phones. What are the challenges facing the Gendarmerie Nationale? There are four main ones: security, interoperability, modularity and resilience. The digital tools we use must therefore fulfill several roles. The first, from an internal perspective, is to help the gendarmerie in its day-to-day missions, to be more efficient, faster, or by offering capabilities that go beyond those of human beings. The second role is to better welcome and protect our fellow citizens. This involves tools for welcoming and informing the public in the broadest sense, as well as tools for prevention, particularly in the cyber domain. Our entire digital approach must serve our lines of operation, with well-commanded and well-trained gendarmes, more effective action, and gendarmes who have the right means to work, and who are proud of their living and working conditions. Digital technology is the key to these 4 dynamics. Credits: Brice LAPOINTE Credits: Kirill KUDRYAVTSEV / AFP How does the NEO program, for which Crosscall has won the second tender in 2021 to supply CORE-X4 NEO smartphones and CORE-T4 NEO tablets, meet these requirements? The NEO terminal holds a strategic position within our information system. We believe that, tomorrow, it should also become our desktop computer. So it's a cornerstone of our strategy. You'll understand that the right to make mistakes is not an option, with the essential question of the failure rate. Our equipment has to be available at all times and in all places, and of course it has to be hard-wearing. With several years' experience and the feedback of tens of thousands of units in service, Crosscall meets these requirements perfectly. This guaranteed availability in sometimes extreme conditions of use is the DNA of the French brand. I don't hear any talk of Crosscall products from the teams, which is an excellent sign! "The NEO terminal has a strategic place in our information ecosystem. Our equipment must be available at all times, in all places, and of course resistant!" This issue of availability was particularly crucial during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Can you describe the human resources deployed? They were commensurate with the scale of this global event, with between 15,000 and 35,000 gendarmes mobilized every day for the duration of the two Olympiads. We were able to count on the support of foreign forces who patrolled with our teams on the ground. What is your analysis of the evolution of threats linked to this type of major event, and how can strategic communications be better managed in this context? Current events underline this more and more every day. The ability to communicate information rapidly and securely is more crucial than ever. At present, almost 40,000 gendarmes and 60,000 police officers use the new STORM information system. We are currently rolling out a new system, the Réseau Radio du Futur (RRF). With STORM, the telephone is used as a radio, relying on the network of the operator, Orange. The system's strength lies in what we call "priority pre-emption". In other words, law enforcement data takes priority over other data on a digital network, with the ability to also take priority over an overloaded relay, on December 31st for example. In the event of an exceptional situation, the system will automatically give priority to strategic communications, enabling communications to be used to defend the population and the territory. Tomorrow, i.e. from 2025, RRF will go even further, relying on two operators, Orange and Bouygues. Final adjustments are underway to ensure that there will be no functional losses and that the system will be perfectly resilient. The special relationship between Orange, Bouygues and Crosscall an asset for the deployment of STORM and RRF? STORM admirably succeeded in its baptism of fire during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. But we all know that the subject is complex, and we'll have to meet new challenges. So the fact that all the players are as closely linked as possible is a guarantee of success and easier deployment. The Gendarmerie Nationale is very attentive to the operational commitment of its partners and their collective mobilization to ensure that projects move forward. It's very important for us to know that, faced with a problem, we'll all roll up our sleeves and find solutions together. Credits: Alex PANTLING / Getty Images via AFP What is the relationship between the Gendarmerie Nationale and Crosscall teams? They're very good, particularly with the teams at the Agence du Numérique des Forces de Sécurité Intérieure (ANFSI). Exchanges are regular and fruitful. This is not surprising, since, as I explained earlier, the NEO tool is an essential building block for mobility. So we have to work hand in hand with the supplier of the brick used in mobility. This has been the case since 2021, with a good quality of relationship and responsiveness from our teams. I hope it will continue like this, and I'm sure it will! "Crosscall is a French brand, offering products that meet our demanding specifications, with a high-performance TCO. So a lot of boxes are ticked." How do you view Crosscall? As you can well understand, we are strictly bound by the French Public Procurement Code. The sovereignty angle, on such a strategic piece of mobility equipment, is undeniably an important criterion. Crosscall is a French brand, and has been able to offer products that meet our specifications, with a high-performance TCO. That's what won us the contract! Crosscall recently launched the STELLAR-M6, which incorporates an element of security against cyberthreats. What is your analysis of the evolution of cybercrime? We are seeing a sharp increase in cybercrime. Every year, more vulnerabilities are discovered in information systems than ever before. The cost to society is major. Worldwide, it will exceed $10,000 billion by 2024, with revenues ranging from $1,500 to $2,000 billion for cybercriminals. The Gendarmerie Nationale is one of these criminals' prime targets. That's why the security of our information systems is so strategic. It's one of the reasons why we develop our own operating systems for our phones. Crosscall's offer is based on the aggregation of uses, with a phone that can replace up to 5 pieces of equipment. Do you see this as the way forward? I'm convinced it is. Today, the CORE-X4 NEO smartphones used by our gendarmes are already replacing the old radio terminals as part of the STORM deployment with Crosscall's X-COMM module. Tomorrow, as I told you, I'm convinced that they will replace all our computers, for enhanced operability and reduced cost of ownership. These two performance levers are perfectly complementary. You too need reliable, durable terminals for your business. professional mobile fleet? Contact us. Interview by Andy DEVRIENDT
Launch of the STELLAR-M6, powerful, elegant and long-lasting
Available from November 7, the STELLAR-M6 marks a long-awaited evolution in the Crosscall range. A 5G smartphone combining robustness and high autonomy, the STELLAR-M6 boasts a particularly elegant, sleek design. High-performance by nature, the STELLAR-M6 features a host of latest-generation technologies for maximum user experience and enhanced security. Responsible by conviction, Crosscall's latest model has been designed to limit its ecological footprint, with a major argument: a 5-year Warranty including its battery*. This encourages prolonged use, while at the same time encouraging repair thanks to a number of design details, such as a chassis that is screwed rather than glued, resulting in a repairability index of 9.3. In terms of resistance, this makes the STELLAR-M6 even more robust in the face of the inevitable bumps and drops of everyday life. Because the STELLAR-M6 thinks big, it's just as well suited to front-line employees, hyper-connected outdoor enthusiasts, particularly demanding DIY enthusiasts, as it is to corporate executives for whom a smartphone needs to be as high-performance, hard-wearing as it is elegant on a date. They all share the same demand for connectivity, another strong point of the STELLAR-M6. A new asset is its ability to run a wide range of complex business and professional applications. Because Crosscall is convinced that a smartphone should above all meet the needs of its users, the STELLAR-M6 is now available in an essential, even more affordable version... the STELLAR-M6e. Smartphones: the new challenges facing frontline workers
Millions of frontline workers worldwide work in direct contact with customers on a daily basis, in an increasingly digitalized environment. For them, this fundamental trend has a major impact: their ability to access and share information quickly. At the heart of this challenge is the smartphone they use, and cost optimization. Salespeople in retail, craftsmen working in private homes, maintenance workers in industry, delivery drivers, municipal policemen on the streets, cleaning staff or home helps... more than just a name, frontline workers are everywhere. Their work is essential, given the constant flow of information. One thing is certain: digitalization has profoundly transformed their activity. Firstly, it has made their work easier, by bringing together on a smartphone a host of tools such as shared diaries, service reports and, of course, the ability to communicate simply from anywhere. While this movement represents an asset, it has also brought a reality to the fore. Very often, in fact, the smartphone used is not adapted to the reality of use. The result: irregular availability of equipment, breakages, missions not carried out and therefore not billed, without underestimating the impact of irritation on customers, users and those handling complaints and after-sales service. For Crosscall, this global approach encompassing the entire life cycle of a piece of equipment is central. The aim is to optimize the cost of this equipment as much as possible throughout its life cycle. COMPARE WARRANTIES AND THEIR DURATION Most countries in the world require manufacturers of electronic equipment to provide a minimum warranty of two years. Studies show, however, that users keep their equipment longer. This means that, in the event of a breakdown, part of the usage will no longer be covered by the warranty. This increases the cost of ownership. By offering a 5-year Warranty on its products, and above all by including the battery in this coverage, Crosscall is breaking new ground as the only manufacturer on the market to make such a long-term commitment. ROBUSTNESS FOR EVERYDAY USE When you work in front of customers, outdoors, in a sales outlet or at home, shocks and falls are inevitable. Equipment must meet these specifications, like the STELLAR-X5 used by the SNCF (French railways). Sturdiness is largely due to design details that often go unnoticed, such as an intermediate shell that is screwed rather than glued. At the time of purchase? Visually, no difference. Over time, however, the advantage is greater, with greater resistance to external aggression, shocks and dust infiltration. "One Crosscall smartphone can replace up to 5 handsets". consider the number of devices a smartphone can replace The best purchase in terms of savings is the one you don't make. The lightest equipment is the one you don't wear. From these two common-sense observations, the French brand has developed an offer, Crosscall-In-One. The approach? Rationalize the number of pieces of equipment by simplifying day-to-day use. A Crosscall device can replace a walkie-talkie, a scan shower or even a PC, with its X-SPACE interface. CHOOSING THE TECHNOLOGIES ADAPTED TO YOUR USES Wi-Fi 5 or 6/6E, 4 or 5G, VoWi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.2, MIMO, SISO... it's hard to make the right choice. Yet each decision has an impact on a frontline worker's mission. Take Wi-Fi 5, for example, compared with Wi-Fi6/6E. The 5 is more than sufficient for people using mainly cellular data. On the other hand, if you work in a warehouse covered by a modern private network, you'll want to be equipped with Wi-Fi6/6E with ultra-fast data rates. The strength of the Crosscall range? It ticks a lot of boxes for frontline workers, with the constant challenge of adapting products to uses in the field and not the other way round. TAKING USER EXPERIENCE INTO ACCOUNT One of the questions to ask early on is how the equipment selected for a fleet will be perceived by its future user. If the first reflex is rejection, the investment is totally counterproductive. If, on the other hand, the user is involved at a very early stage, right from the design phase, the investment is a success. This is how Crosscall won a major contract with Leroy Merlin, equipping 30,000 employees. IDENTIFYING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONALITIES What makes Crosscall different is probably the little details, each of which has been thought out by the product teams. For frontline workers, they represent real assets in everyday life. In terms of comfort, the leash allows you to wear your smartphone around your neck. Ultra-hardened screen glass prevents scratches. Autonomy is designed for all-day use. The CORE-M5 achieves 25h48 in 2G/3G communication. It's no coincidence that Crosscall products are used by many firefighters and the BRI. TAKE ACCESSORY PRICES INTO ACCOUNT When you say smartphone, you also say accessory ecosystem. From two angles. The first is the breadth of the range, which can be used for a variety of purposes, such as attaching to different supports or recharging equipment. Another possibility is to reduce the amount of equipment used by rationalizing their number, as with a X-SCAN optical reader making a conventional hand shower unnecessary. The second angle becomes central: price. And here again, Crosscall products have two strong arguments: sturdiness and reliability! As they are sturdy by nature, they don't need a shell. This is an indirect saving with an immediate financial advantage.

Mâcon 2024: Meeting the challenges facing firefighters
Crosscall will be present at the 130th Firefighters Congress from September 25 to 28, 2024. For the French brand, which already equips many SDIS in France, it's an opportunity to share its expertise in safety at the service of the public, while highlighting the performance of its offering. Interview with Denis Thayanithy, Crosscall Chief Commercial Officer. The budgetary advantage of products less susceptible to breakage How do Crosscall's products meet the operational needs of France's SDIS and, more broadly, the civil protection sector? "Today, professionals in this sector are looking for products that are both affordable and resistant to extreme conditions of use. That's exactly what we offer with our rugged smartphones and tablets, which resist shocks, drops and liquids. Reliability is in Crosscall's DNA. It's built the success of our brand, as demonstrated by our 5-year Warranty, which also covers the battery. This means that by choosing Crosscall equipment, an SDIS will optimize its budget with equipment they can keep longer, less susceptible to breakage and more widely to all the risks associated with daily interventions in all types of terrain. As the months go by, this very quickly adds up to thousands of euros." The user at the heart of the Crosscall approach How is Crosscall's approach particularly appreciated, beyond the central angle of product robustness? "We never forget that behind one of our products there are men and women whose job it is to save lives. For the Crosscall teams, this represents a real responsibility. That's why we invest time in human relations. This enables us to forge close ties, which are essential for providing solutions tailored to the specific needs of an SDIS. That's why it's a good idea to choose a French brand with a perfect network of branches throughout the country. In this strategic sector of civil security, we aim to develop real, long-term partnerships. And it all starts with a meeting. It's thanks to this commitment in the field that we now work with a large number of SDIS throughout France. Crosscall is also involved in major projects such as the Fenics project, in close collaboration with SDIS 73, SDMIS, SDIS 74 and the SDIS. 13." Replace up to 5 existing devices How does Crosscall respond to the challenge of optimizing costs by rationalizing equipment? "There are two ways of looking at this issue. The first is to drastically reduce the number of new devices, or to reduce the rate of renewal of those already in operation. For Crosscall, the answer comes from a study of usage, so as to constantly optimize the equipment available. We invent ever more versatile products. For example, a Crosscall phone can replace up to 5 existing devices. For example, it can replace a walkie-talkie, a barcode scanner, or even a computer with a simple screen connection. For Crosscall tablets, the approach is the same. For example, our teams have worked with an SDIS to implement a solution for collecting cardiovascular data during the medical care of victims. Thanks to this solution, professionals can share a complete report with their colleagues at the SAMU, for example. In this way, we are meeting a real interoperability challenge, while helping to optimize operating costs. Here's another concrete example, with our CORE-T5 tablet used as a training aid."
Crosscall wins historic 5-year contract with SNCF for 23,000 sustainable smartphones
The SNCF renews its confidence in Crosscall, selecting the STELLAR-X5 smartphone to equip 23,000 Customer Relations agents for TGV-Intercités and TER activities. This success demonstrates Crosscall's commitment to offering high-quality products capable of meeting the demanding needs of professionals. By renewing its confidence in Crosscall, the SNCF is highlighting the company's ability to design products that are reliable over time, enabling companies to optimize their mobile fleet budgets over the long term. The STELLAR-X5, a symbol of technicality and durability For this renewal, SNCF has opted for the STELLAR-X5, Crosscall's latest model to be launched in October 2023. This smartphone incorporates 26% recycled materials, combining performance and a responsible approach. Crosscall's eco-design approach was rewarded with the EcoVadis Gold medal, placing the company among the top 5% rated for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The unique design of its smartphones enables Crosscall to offer a longer lifespan than conventional handsets, reinforcing the brand's position as a leader in sustainable telephony. An innovative initiative for a circular economy Crosscall has set itself apart with its offer to take back smartphones at the end of their contract. After 5 years, the smartphones will be bought back by Crosscall, repaired and reconditioned in France for a second life. This approach is in line with the principles of the circular economy and meets the requirements of the AGEC law. It represents an economical and more responsible solution, perfectly aligned with the public sector's expectations in terms of sustainability. This model, unprecedented in the telephony sector, demonstrates Crosscall's ability to anticipate and its pioneering role in transforming purchasing practices towards a more responsible and sustainable approach, reinforcing the French manufacturer's leading position.
Crosscall wins MCx product of the year award.
At the Critical Communication World event, Crosscall won the "Best MCX product of the year" award for its CORE-Z5 smartphone. This global award underlines Crosscall's expertise in designing critical communication solutions and its ability to develop innovative products that meet the needs of public safety and private security professionals. AN INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR CROSSCALL AND ITS CORE-Z5 Every year, Critical Communication World (CCW) brings together end-users of critical communication systems, manufacturers and suppliers for three days of inspiration, knowledge and connections. This key industry event is organized by TCCA (The Critical Communication Association), whose mission is to develop and promote standardized critical communication solutions worldwide. On this occasion, the TCCA orchestrates the International Critical Communication Awards (ICCA), a ceremony which recognizes the most innovative initiatives and products at international level. This year, French manufacturer Crosscall stood out with its CORE-Z5 smartphone, which won the "Best MCX product of the year" award. This award underlines Crosscall's expertise in designing MCX products, a new standard defined by 3GPP, operating on 4G and 5G LTE networks, where X stands for several mission-critical (MC) services such as PTT (push to talk, i.e. voice), data, video and others. The CORE-Z5 is thus recognized at the highest level by industry professionals as a solution that meets their current and future needs. MISSION-CRITICAL COMMUNICATION: A FAST-CHANGING SECTOR The world of mission-critical communication is undergoing a major transformation. Until now, several 2G-equivalent technologies were mainly used in the public safety sector: TETRA, ACROPOL, TETRAPOL, P25... These technologies enable exchanges on private mobile networks called PMR (Private Mobile Radio), which are independent and distinct from mobile networks open to the public. These technologies are set to be replaced by new private networks operating on 4G and 3G networks. 5G. As a result, the old handheld communication tools will gradually be replaced by more modern devices. The smartphone will thus become the ideal tool for security forces, enabling them to access brand-new functionalities, gain in operationality in the field and be interoperable. Indeed, in addition to voice communications, they will now be able to share data, photos, videos or even location in real time and simultaneously with several people. However, compatibility with private networks and pre-emption of access to them remain essential to make the smartphone an MCX tool. To achieve this, smartphones need to be compatible with specific frequency bands. Crosscall has developed this expertise over the last few years, and in partnership with Qualcomm, has developed the CORE-Z5, the world's first smartphone compatible with band 68, a frequency band dedicated to public safety in the majority of European countries. This innovation has now earned the French manufacturer an international award. "We are very proud to receive this award. It rewards the work carried out over several years by our product and software development teams. It's a great achievement for Crosscall, and a recognition at the highest level that consolidates our expertise in the critical communications sector". Nicolas Zibell, CEO of Crosscall. CROSSCALL, EUROPE'S CRITICAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST Crosscall has demonstrated its expertise in the critical communications sector by developing innovative products and solutions, and providing professionals with solutions that meet their specific needs. The company is also helping to drive this sector forward by working on international projects such as Broadway, which aims to define, develop and test next-generation mission-critical communication solutions for public safety organizations across Europe. Crosscall is one of the first manufacturers to work on eMBMS (evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services) support, which enables "point-to-multipoint" content broadcasting. Thanks to eMBMS, several terminals can receive information that the antenna sends to everyone, instead of receiving the information separately. The support of this functionality is complementary to that of band 68. In fact, this band is only 5 MHz wide, which, in the event of major events or crises, may prove insufficient to support different video streams shared by several people. So, tomorrow public security forces will be more connected. They will be equipped with smartphones and dedicated accessories enabling them to manage all their missions, wherever they may be, more rapidly, while minimizing risks in the field. This is a key factor in ensuring the safety of populations, and in particular the security of major events in which Crosscall and its products are directly involved. At COP 27, which took place in Dubai at the end of 2023, Crosscall helped to ensure the smooth running and safety of participants at this international event bringing together 196 states to discuss the issue of climate change. The critical communication system put in place, based on Crosscall's reliable and durable terminals, facilitated the coordination of the units involved and the management of incidents during these important days. A full-scale experience that will be put to good use by the French Ministry of the Interior during another major event, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Crosscall terminals will accompany the police and gendarmes mobilized to guarantee festive and safe games for the public. This alternative to conventional radios offers officers better network quality and communications continuity, and is based on a smartphone and Crosscall's X-COMM remote microphone, tailored to their operational needs.
Crosscall, winner of the French Tech 120 program for the fourth time
Once again this year, Mission French Tech has selected Crosscall, for the fourth time in 5 years, as part of its annual French Tech 120 promotion. The Aix-based brand was selected from 120 French start-ups and scale-ups with the potential to become world-class technology leaders. The selection criteria for this year's edition are even more demanding, based on economic performance as well as a number of social and environmental commitments. Crosscall, the French manufacturer of ultra-rugged and durable smartphones and tablets, has established itself as a French technological flagship by offering increasingly sovereign and sustainable solutions. Since its creation in 2009, the Aix-en-Provence-based scale-up has become a benchmark in enterprise telephony. The brand was recently chosen by specialist retailer Leroy Merlin to equip its 30,000 employees, and is continuing its international expansion by positioning itself in markets linked to critical communications, a strategic axis in Crosscall's development. The selection criteria for this fifth promotion have evolved to give pride of place to commitments linked to the ecological transition and gender equality. These are strategic points for Crosscall, which was awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies with the best CSR performance. The company's actions include its ability to extend the lifespan of its 5-year Warranty handsets, and the new eco-design axes developed with the STELLAR-X5, the French brand's latest smartphone incorporating 26% recycled materials. On this occasion, Crosscall developed its first carbon footprint, enabling the real impact of a smartphone to be measured throughout its lifecycle, and to take its eco-design approach even further in the future. Crosscall also stood out for its gender equality index : the score of 84/100 underlines the French company's initiatives to ensure the representation of women in its management bodies and to reduce the pay gap between women and men in similar positions. By joining the French Tech 120, Crosscall will benefit from close support from all the relevant authorities to pursue its development and its ambition to establish itself as a new leader in mobile telephony on an international scale.
