A WORLD-RENOWNED DISTINCTION
Every year, iF International Forum Design GmbH, the world's oldest independent design organization, organizes the iF Design awards to honor the most innovative proposals. This year, theACTION smartphone with integrated action-cam designed by Crosscall won over the 132 members of the jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world. Competition was fierce: almost 11,000 entries from 52 countries were submitted in the hope of receiving this seal of quality. DESIGN FOR ADVENTURE
Crosscall has designed theACTION for those who live their lives on the move and want a smartphone that can accompany them on all their adventures. Ultra-resistant and waterproof, its identity is resolutely sporty to match its users and their uses. A unique and assertive design language that underlines Crosscall's promises and contrarian positioning. In fact, the brand consulted its community right from the start of the design process, and they were unanimous in wanting a phone that was different in terms of both functionality and design.
TheACTION's aesthetic identity is most strongly expressed on the rear of the phone. Its clean, dynamic lines cleverly highlight the phone's key components, such as its wide-angle camera. At the front, its tapered, pointed volumes provide optimum protection for the screen. The front and rear speakers, side bars, buttons and protective caps have all been designed with the same aesthetic approach to accentuate the phone's unique style.

"Its design is directly inspired by the patterns found on the soles of running or trail sneakers."
François Rochais, Lead Designer Crosscall
TheACTION's outer shell is made from "Soft Touch" polycarbonate, a material that gives a smooth, pleasant feel, to which the designer has added textured surfaces for a better grip on the phone, reducing the risk of accidentally dropping it.
The choice of colors to embellish theACTION was also inspired by the world of sports: the vibrant, eye-catching accent color "lime" is often used there. This hue is an equal blend of yellow and green, reflecting the outdoor spirit of the phone: yellow represents sunshine, spontaneity and positivity, while green symbolizes nature, prosperity and harmony, not to mention CROSSCALL 's responsible approach and commitment to sustainability. TheACTION comes with a 5-year warranty and a repairability index of 8.8/10, one of the best ratings on the market. Particular care has also been taken with the phone's packaging, whose size and interior layout have been optimized to avoid transporting unnecessary volumes.ACTION packaging is made from 75% recycled materials, and soy ink has been chosen to replace chemical inks.

A PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR THE DESIGNER OF THE FRENCH BRAND
While the constraints imposed by the desired strength, durability and watertightness could constitute limits in the design process, they are in fact seen as a source of inspiration for Crosscall Lead Designer François Rochais.
Recruited in 2017 by the Aix-based company, designer François Rochais is behind the design of the TREKKER-X4, launched at the end of 2018, as well as all smartphones, tablets and accessories released since. A key player in the aesthetic change of the brand's smartphones, he has given them a unique design language. This assertive graphic identity enables Crosscall to make its mark by breaking away from conventional cell phone codes.
"It's a constant challenge, but it's always a source of immense pride to design an elegant product, inspired by our users, and which respects the promises linked to the resistance standards that make up Crosscall's DNA."
François Rochais, Lead Designer Crosscall
